Have you ever opened Finale and felt overwhelmed?
Do you wish your workflow was more efficient so you could accept more projects?
Do you geek out about music notation but wish you had a better grasp of what performers and conductors want to see on their stand?
Are you a theater music assistant who wants to be able to offer more value to a potential creative team?
To be successful in today's music industry, it's essential that you are versatile, fast, and reliable. This course will help get you there and hopefully inspire you to take more pride in your music copying work.
Join a group of like-minded musicians from across the country for a 12-week music copying bootcamp. We'll meet online once a week to discuss this often-overlooked profession and dive into the industry-standard software programs.
Become familiar with performance materials of the highest standard
Gain a higher level of proficiency and speed in the industry-standard music notation software
Produce professional-quality templates for future music preparation work
Sessions will consist of discussions, tutorials, analysis of real-world scores and parts, and constructive critiques of participant projects. Assigned reading materials and web resources will be provided, but I recommend acquiring your own copy of Elaine Gould's Behind Bars: The Definitive Guide to Music Notation.
The final project assignment will see each participant create a professional-quality template for a performance application and in the software of their choice.
